Stop 1
Visit the Tree of Utah, an 87-foot sculpture created by Karl Momen in the 1980s. Made mainly of concrete, it features six spheres coated with Utah’s native rocks and minerals. The sculpture is surrounded by a fence for safety, and inscribed with lines from Ode to Joy by Friedrich Schiller. Momen was inspired to create this piece after a vision while driving across the Bonneville Salt Flats. After the dedication, he donated the sculpture to Utah and returned to Sweden.

Travel from Salt Lake City to the Bonneville Salt Flats near the Nevada border. En route, you'll stop at the Tree of Utah for photos if you'd like.
